Many Mustang ownes are okay with the wheels that come stock with their Mustangs. Some are happy with the looks and performance of it too. If your goal is to increase the performance and handling of the car some owners will upgrade their wheels and tires. Most Mustangs nowadays come with a 17 or 18 inch wheel that is 8 or 9 inches wide. This is a stock look that works out great. Ford does not offer a wheel that is wider than 9 inches because the factory does not want to produce different sizes because it will not result in that much more profit.

Mustang owners who want to give the look of their Mustang a more staggered look will go out and buy a set of wheels that are 10.5 inches wide just for the back. Mustangs cannot have anything larger than a 9 inch wheel width in the front of the car because the brakes, struts, A-arms and the rest of the steering components are located around the wheel well. Because of the location using a wider wheel will cause a large amount of rubbing to the wheel well on the inside or outside of it.

The only downside to switching the wheels to a 10.5 width wheel for your Mustang is that now you will have to replace all the tires much sooner. Also you cannot rotate the tires anymore. The types of tires you will buy with those wheels are designed for a specific side of the car. It becomes a pricey investment but if your goal is to increase the handling and performance than you are probably okay with it.

To find a set of either 17, 18, 19, or 20 inch wheels that are 10.5 width you will have to look for them with an aftermarket company. Most of the aftermarket companies will have those size wheels with a set up of 9 inch width wheels for the front and 10.5 inch widths for the back. If you are going to go and get a set of custom mustang wheels I would see if you can get the tires thrown in with them to get a great deal.

Ford Mustang owners are always trying to customize their car. The Mustang is a favorite amongst sports car owners. When you are a kid you either became a Mustang or Camaro person. The best bet for an all around great wheel would to be and find a rim in the seventeen or eightteen inch size. You will get more bang for your buck with one of these wheels. They are by no means small wheels and with the right custom wheel it will make your Mustang stand out but not lose its stock performance. Going into bigger heavier wheels will weigh down the car making it slower. If performance is not your thing than you might as well put a set of twenty inch wheels on it. When you do that be expecting to buy parts for your suspension as the stock assembly just can't take that type of beating.

Chrome Mustang wheels are common and look nice. If you really want to get people thinking you should invest into a set of black Mustang wheels for two reasons. They look awesome and they don't need all the polishing and care that a chrome wheel needs. With summer right around the corner and with television bringing back the show Knight Rider with a Mustang as the car you will want to get your black mustang wheels before everybody else.
